EXA International is an engineering petrochemical company founded in 1971 specialising in dismantling & installation (revamping) of primary reformers and pyrolysis furnaces.

EXA International main engineering offices are in Moscow and Togliatti and most of our clients are the Russian Azot, Ammonia, Methanol and Ethylene companies.

EXA International works in Russia for the local fertilizer and methanol producers and produces the centrifugated tubes on its own plant in Togliatti (Russia).

Exa International engineering and industrial activities developed in the food sector at large, from agriculture to fertilizer, food industries and distribution.

As an independent engineering firm, Exa International has been developing since 1990 a strong expertise in the production of nitrogen fertilizers and derivates in Russia and other FSU and East Europe countries.

The heart of Exa International engineering activities is the production of hydrogen for the synthesis of ammonia, methanol and monomers.

The strategic decision to couple methanol production to ammonia in several plants gave to Exa International the opportunity to enlarge its services to the revamping of reformers for methanol production.

Founded in 1970 by Christian Megrelis, a French engineer with international roots, Exa International has been, from her very beginning a creative and ambitious company, with a deep feeling of geo-economics evolutions.
Christian Megrelis emerged from the Defense industry were he had become familiar with technical requirements and innovations of advanced technologies. He then was in charge of contracts for R & D on behalf of the MoD of France, before turning to banking.
He founded Exa International in 1970 as a company dedicated to the development of international trade and investments, with a strong priority given to engineering and finance.
In a few years the company acquired a mastership in the development of projects requiring dual expertise in advanced technologies and finance.
Exa International has been at his best in emerging countries with vast industrial ambitions hampered by lack of adequate financing capabilities, like Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Russia, Turkey and FSU countries.
Her fields of excellence are engineering and investment in industries related to chemicals and siderurgy.

As a production company Exa International has been, since 1993 a producer of food products in Texas.

Exa International and the fertilizer industry

The heart of Exa International engineering activities is the production of hydrogen for the synthesis of ammonia, methanol and monomers. In 1992 after careful studies, the firm decided to specialize in this sector and to propose a turn ? key service for the revamping of primary reformers and pyrolysis furnaces.
From its bases in France, Houston, Moscow, and Istanbul, the Group launched the new activity with immediate success.
The first revamping was successfully achieved in Novgorod, Russia, and several others followed very quickly.
The strategic decision to couple methanol production to ammonia in several plants gave to Exa International the opportunity to enlarge its services to the revamping of reformers for methanol production. This development was a success.
Then Exa International concentrated on the production of cracking tubes in Russia which are now produced in a brand new factory.
Through vertical integration, the firm established a series of steps to guarantee to her clients a steady supply of all high quality items entering in the process of repairs such as insulation, cracking tubes, pigtails, spring supports, for the radiant zone of the primary reformers and heat-exchangers for the convection zone. Through additional studies major technical steps were carried out to improve the quality/price ratio and the lifespan of the equipments.

EXA International entered the air separation industry in 2004 with the successful delivery of a CO2 recovery unit, then extended its expertise to Nitrogen and Oxygen units. Recently, EXA International entered the water treatment sector.

Exa International and the steel industry

After careful studies, EXA International went one step further into the integration of its technical offer.
A test production of cracking tubes and prefabricated primary reforming furnaces began in 2003 in Russia. After the successful delivery of several prefabricated furnaces, the test site has been extended into a world class centrifugal foundry with a capacity equivalent to most existing world class plant.
